With hidden question, numbering is wrong

With hidden question, numbering is wrong was created by james2
As per subject, I have a hidden question right at the start of my survey, which takes a value passed into the survey URL.

However, this means that the survey starts at question number 2 which is annoying/confusing for the user.

Any way around this?

Disable the automatic question number display.

You mean turn off question numbering?

I turned it on because I want question numbering.

So my question is:

I would like question numbering, but hidden questions cause the numbering to become wrong. How can I have question numbering that takes into account hidden questions to make the numbering consistent for the user.

Turn it off and put your own numbers in the question text.

Ok, so there is no way to do what I want - that is the information I was looking for, thank you for your fast super helpful responses.

Obviously I can manually number the questions in the question text, but then I have to renumber them if I insert a question later.

Yes, but the automatic numbering kind of blows up anyway if you have any conditional questions or groups.
